Becoming a Community-Centric Library
Modern public libraries exist to serve their community’s needs. Since every community is unique, each library will have its own approach to designing and delivering programs and services to serve those needs. This one-hour seminar will provide an overview of a community-centric approach to library service design and discuss multiple examples relevant to libraries serving small and rural communities.
This will be a free, virtual training and will take place January 18th from 10am-11am. While this training is meant for rural libraries, anyone is able to attend. Register now to join!
Kimberly Silk is the founder of Brightsail Research, a consulting firm dedicated to empowering libraries to use data to inform decision-making, support advocacy, and communicate impact. Kim’s consulting work, training, and teaching focus on building capacity in libraries to use evaluation and data to measure progress toward strategic goals, improve operations, and demonstrate outcomes. Kim is a sessional instructor at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information and a Bowden Fellow at the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her MLS at the University of Toronto and a Graduate Certificate in Evaluation from the University of Victoria. She lives with her family in Toronto, Canada.
