Demonstrating Library Value

Rural library training for communicating library impact.

The importance of public libraries is not always common knowledge. Demonstrating the value of libraries is key to influencing decision-makers so they actively support the library and the people who work for them. This one-hour webinar describes various approaches to demonstrating the economic and social value of libraries and suggests ways for rural libraries to communicate their impact to stakeholders and their community.

About the Instructor

Kim’s consulting work, training, and teaching focus on building capacity in libraries to use evaluation and data to measure progress toward strategic goals, improve operations, and demonstrate outcomes. Kim is a sessional instructor at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information and a Bowden Fellow at the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her MLS at the University of Toronto and a Graduate Certificate in Evaluation from the University of Victoria. She lives with her family in Toronto, Canada.
