The library has always been a place where new technologies are introduced to the community. With a friendly staff member ready to assist as needed, many people first felt comfortable trying a computer or using the Internet for the first time at the public library. Now we see that emerging technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI) have arrived and will affect nearly every industry in the coming decade, eventually becoming part of our everyday lives. Libraries can play a role to help close the potential digital divide and ensure their communities grow and thrive with this new tech. Henry Stokes, library technology trainer from the Texas State Library, will discuss the latest trends and how libraries can best prepare their patrons.
While this training is targeted towards rural Texas libraries, anyone is welcome to join. The training will run for 1hr and a webinare link will be sent out before the meeting!
